Orlando Pride forward Alex Morgan, who left Thursday’s UEFA Women’s Champions League Final between her Lyon side and Paris Saint-Germain in the 23rd minute, has been ruled out of the United States women’s national team’s upcoming friendlies vs. Sweden and Norway, U.S. Soccer announced Friday. North Carolina Courage forward Lynn Williams will take her spot on the roster.Morgan injured her hamstring three weeks ago, but was able to start the Champions League Final (which Lyon eventually won in penalty kicks). She aggravated the injury in the first half and was subbed out. The game was Morgan’s final match with Lyon, where her side won the Division 1 Féminine, French Cup and Champions League titles this year. “It is important that Alex has appropriate time to heal and get 100% healthy and ready for the Orlando Pride,” U.S. Women’s National Team head coach Jill Ellis said in a U.S. Soccer press release. “Lynn has been gaining momentum in the league and has earned an opportunity to join us for the next two matches.” Morgan will soon return to the United States to rehab and prepare for the rest of the Orlando Pride season, U.S. Soccer said. U.S. Soccer announced the roster for the friendlies on May 25. Since the announcement, Houston Dash midfielder Morgan Brian was also ruled out for the two games. Williams has played every minute for the Courage this season and has three goals and one assist in the eight games. She and the rest of the NWSL players on the roster will depart for Sweden following this weekend’s NWSL games.
