FC Kansas City forward Amy Rodriguez suffered a left knee ACL tear on Sunday and will miss the rest of the season, the team announced Tuesday.Rodriguez was making her turn to the team after missing all of 2016 due to the birth of her son. She scored in the 48th minute of her return match, her first goal since the game-winner at the 2015 NWSL Championship. She was injured several minutes later and immediately subbed out of the game. Roriguez posted an update Tuesday on Instagram. “I am heartbroken to announce that I tore my ACL and will soon undergo surgery,” she wrote. “I know I have a long road ahead of me, but I’m already looking forward to lacing up my cleats again. I’ve made a comeback twice before, and I will do it again!” >

I am heartbroken to announce that I tore my ACL and will soon undergo surgery. I plan to return back home and recover with my family. I couldn't be more thankful for the support of my coaches, teammates, medical staff, friends, family and fans.
