FC Kansas City forward Amy Rodriguez suffered a left knee ACL tear on Sunday and will miss the rest of the season, the team announced Tuesday.Rodriguez was making her turn to the team after missing all of 2016 due to the birth of her son. She scored in the 48th minute of her return match, her first goal since the game-winner at the 2015 NWSL Championship. She was injured several minutes later and immediately subbed out of the game. Roriguez posted an update Tuesday on Instagram. “I am heartbroken to announce that I tore my ACL and will soon undergo surgery,” she wrote. “I know I have a long road ahead of me, but I’m already looking forward to lacing up my cleats again. I’ve made a comeback twice before, and I will do it again!” >

Rodriguez’s six career playoff goals, which helped lead FC Kansas City to back-to-back titles in 2014 and 2015, are the most in NWSL history.
