The National Women’s Soccer League announced today that Angel City FC midfielder Savannah McCaskill has been named the Player of the Month, presented by EA Sports, for the months of September and October by the NWSL Media Association and the NWSL’s on-air broadcast talent.

The National Women’s Soccer League announced today that Angel City FC midfielder Savannah McCaskill has been named the Player of the Month, presented by EA Sports, for the months of September and October by the NWSL Media Association and the NWSL’s on-air broadcast talent. The Chapin, South Carolina native recorded two goals and an assist in Angel City’s five matches, scoring in each of her final two regular season games to secure her club’s first playoff berth. McCaskill netted the stoppage-time game-winner in the Week 21 win over the Houston Dash, a pivotal match for Angel City’s playoff push, and also logged an assist in the match. Angel City defeated Portland Thorns FC 5-1 in its regular season finale, marking the most goals in a single game in club history. The second overall pick in the 2018 NWSL Draft tallied the club’s third goal of the match, scoring with a touch just outside the box on a cross from defender M.A. Vignola. Angel City did not lose a match in which McCaskill scored this season (3-0-1 in regular season matches, 1-0-0 in Challenge Cup). The University of South Carolina alum completed 124 passes across five matches, notably recording 36 in a 2-1 win in Week 21, also tallying four shots on goal in the same match. McCaskill completed at least 25 passes in each of Angel City’s final three regular season matches. This is McCaskill’s second Player of the Month honor of the season, earning the award in July along with a Best XI selection. McCaskill will take the field Friday in Angel City’s first-ever playoff match against OL Reign at Lumen Field in Seattle, Washington. Kickoff is slated for 10 p.m. ET on Paramount+.
