Lloyd’s election solidifies her legacy as one of the sport’s all-time greats. Over her 16-year career, Lloyd amassed 316 appearances for the U.S., the second-most in history, and scored 134 international goals, ranking fifth on the all-time list. She was instrumental in three of the USWNT’s nine global titles, including unforgettable performances in the 2008 and 2012 Olympic gold-medal matches and her iconic hat trick in the 2015 FIFA World Cup final.
Lloyd captured the NWSL Shield with the Western New York Flash in the league's inaugural 2013 season and earned accolades as NWSL Player of the Week (July 2013, July 2014) and with the Houston Dash, Player of the Month (July 2015). She earned NWSL Second XI honors three times: in 2014 with WNY Flash, 2015 with the Dash, and 2018 with Gotham FC (formerly Sky Blue FC). Lloyd retired from professional soccer in 2021, concluding her career with Gotham FC as her final club, amassing 114 appearances across all competitions, 47 career NWSL goals, and 11 career assists.
Lloyd becomes the sixth NWSL player inducted into the Hall of Fame, joining Abby Wambach (2019), Christie Pearce (2021), Shannon Boxx (2022), Hope Solo (2022), and Lauren Holiday (2023).
