Christine Sinclair Announces Retirement from Professional Soccer

One of the most iconic figures in women’s soccer, Christine Sinclair, has officially announced her retirement from professional soccer after an illustrious career spanning 25 years. At the conclusion of the Portland Thorns’ 2024 season, Sinclair will leave the game as one of the most decorated and celebrated players in the history of the sport.

Sinclair has been synonymous with Portland Thorns FC since the club’s inception in 2013. As the only player to spend all 12 seasons with the team, Sinclair's achievements in the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) speak volumes about her incredible legacy:

  • 195 regular-season games played (5th all-time in NWSL)
  • 64 regular-season goals (3rd all-time)
  • Most goals for a single NWSL club
  • 3x NWSL Champion
  • 2x NWSL Shield Winner
  • First player to score in all NWSL competitions

Throughout her career, Sinclair became known not just for her goal-scoring prowess but for her leadership and unyielding passion for the game.
