The Houston Dash have traded Morgan Brian and future considerations to the Chicago Red Stars in exchange for Kristie Mewis and future considerations, the teams announced today. Brian was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 NWSL College Draft by the expansion Houston Dash in their first season. She has played her entire career with the Dash and appeared in 10 games this season while dealing with a right knee MCL sprain and right groin tendinitis. She last appeared in a match on July 23. Mewis will join the Dash in advance of Sunday’s game vs. Seattle Reign FC in Frisco, TX, the Dash said. She was traded by the Spirit to the Red Stars on August 21. She played in one game for Chicago, starting and scoring in her only shot on goal with the Red Stars, against her former team in Chicago’s 2-1 win over Washington on August 26. Mewis played for FC Kansas City in 2013 before spending the next three seasons with the Boston Breakers. She was traded to the Spirit last offseason and tallied two goals and an assist with Washington before being traded to the Red Stars.
