Draft-day trades A record-number of draft-day trades were conducted this year -- 12. Previous record was 6, from the December 2021 draft (aka the 2022 draft). The Spirit was involved in 5 trades, a record for draft-day trades by one club. Siblings in the draft For the first time, two siblings were taken in the draft in the same year -- Penelope and Iliana Hocking. The
Hockings
are the first set of twins to be drafted into NWSL. In addition, Natalie Viggiano, the younger sister of current Dash midfielder Marisa Viggiano, was selected. Previously the only siblings in NWSL to both enter the league through the draft were Kristie Mewis (2013) and Sam Mewis (2015). Goalkeepers A total of

This breaks the record
for most GK picks in one draft (2013, 2016, 2018). Kansas City became the first club to select
two GKs
in the same draft. With LA, SD and KC all selecting keepers in the draft, this means that every club in NWSL (past and present) has used at least one draft pick on a goalkeeper.
