NJ/NY Gotham FC, Portland Thorns FC Advance to the Knockout Round of inaugural CONCACAF W Champions Cup  

NJ/NY Gotham FC and Portland Thorns FC have punched their tickets to the knockout round of the inaugural CONCACAF W Champions Cup after earning top-2 finishes in their respective groups. The two clubs will face familiar foes in LIGA MX Femenil sides Club America and Tigres next May as the tournament continues with the semifinal round.

Gotham FC finished the group stage with two wins and a pair of draws to take the second spot in Group A. Meanwhile in Group B, Portland garnered a 3-1-0 ledger en route to a semifinal berth.

Additional details surrounding the semifinal round, including kick times and venues, are forthcoming.

The first women’s continental club competition in the Concacaf region, W Champions Cup kicked off group-stage play in August with 10 of the top clubs from North America, Central America and the Caribbean, including NWSL clubs Gotham FC, Portland and San Diego Wave FC.

The tournament is the lone pathway for Concacaf region clubs to qualify for the upcoming FIFA Women’s Club World Cup kicking off in 2026.
