On Monday, the Houston Dash confirmed that forward Kealia Ohai would miss the remainder of the 2017 season after suffering an injury during Saturday’s 2-0 win over the Orlando Pride. After medical assessment, Ohai was diagnosed with a Grade 3 ACL sprain and medial meniscus tear in her left knee. The Dash also confirmed that she will be placed on the disabled list for the rest of the season.Ohai had previously started in every match so far for Houston, and scored two goals and added two assists. Dash interim head coach Omar Morales said in the team’s official release, “The injury to Kealia is a big hit to the team, not only on the field but off the field due to the leader that she is. With her being the captain, you are losing a big piece of your team. We have to stay strong for her, push for her, win some games and build on the momentum from Saturday. We will keep her in mind because she has done so much for us this year.” Ohai posted a short statement on Twitter after the news that she would miss the rest of the season. She said, “I am devastated but so excited to start my recovery and get back on the field. There is something so beautifully unpredictable about this game, but that is why I love it so much.” [Empty Body]
