U.S. women’s national team head coach Jill Ellis has named the 23-player roster for the team’s upcoming friendlies vs. Chile, U.S. Soccer announced on Wednesday. The United States will play Chile on Friday, August 31, in Carson, California (11 p.m. ET, ESPN2) and Tuesday, September 4, in San Jose, California (10 p.m. ET on ESPN2 and UDN).Eighteen players will be chosen for the game day rosters. The roster features 21 NWSL players and all will report to Los Angeles for camp after their NWSL matches on August 25. The games vs. Chile will be the final ones for the United States before the 2018 Concacaf Women’s Championship in October, the federation’s qualifying tournament for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France. Washington Spirit forward Mallory Pugh and Utah Royals FC defender Kelley O’Hara are back with the team for the first time after injuries kept them out earlier this summer. U.S. Soccer said Seattle Reign FC midfielder Allie Long was not available for selection due to the right knee sprain suffered last week vs. the Chicago Red Stars.
