Kansas City Current Forward Temwa Chawinga Named September Player of the Month, presented By EA SPORTS

Malawi international wins the award after scoring in four out of five matches 

NEW YORK (October 3, 2024) - The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) announced today that Kansas City Current forward Temwa Chawinga has been named the Player of the Month, presented by EA SPORTS, for the month of September by the NWSL Media Association and the NWSL’s on-air broadcast talent. 

Chawinga recorded four goals in five matches throughout September to earn Player of Month honors for the second time this season. The Malawi international’s standout month was highlighted by setting the record on September 7 for scoring in eight straight regular season matches.

Chawinga added 17 total shots, 12 on target along with an 80.99 percent passing accuracy throughout the month. Playing 450 minutes in September, Chawinga successfully dribbled past 13 opponents and added six tackles won and one interception. 

The Golden Boot leader has scored 17 goals in 22 matches played this season.

The NWSL Player of the Month, presented by EA SPORTS, is presented by Ally, is selected by the NWSL Media Association, a collection of writers that cover the league on a consistent basis, and the NWSL’s on-air broadcast talent. Awards for the month of September are based off performances during NWSL regular season matches.
