Nominee: Jen Beattie

Community Partner: Pink Ribbon Good

Appreciation Night Match: October 19

Jen Beattie’s community contributions directly reflect her experiences as a breast cancer survivor, a professional soccer player and a woman in the male-dominated arena of sport. Her work with Pink Ribbon Good is vital in supporting breast and gynecological cancer awareness. She contributes to support meetings, combining her personal cancer journey along with advocacy while maintaining her training on the pitch.

Aware of the link between physical health and mental and emotional well-being during and after treatment, Jen extended monthly survivor and thriver meetings to the club’s training center. These meet-ups center on yoga and breathwork, merging her PRG community with her soccer teammates to highlight the importance of movement for overall health.

In addition to cancer awareness, Jen has been active in youth soccer clinics the Club hosts throughout the Bay Area, integrating soccer skills with agility training and leadership development values. A switch to a vegan lifestyle, initially for performance reasons, has grown into an aim for sustainability and animal welfare.

Here, and during her time at Arsenal, Jen raised awareness on self-checks and regular GP appointments for young people in collaboration with Cancer Research UK. Her dedication earned her an MBE and a BBC Sports award. She also advocates for equity in sports, speaking at events like Be Bold Now + MAKERS.

Jen’s personal battle with breast cancer during the COVID-19 pandemic has deeply shaped her compassionate approach to her communities, amplifying the impact of these contributions.
