Nominee: Paige Monaghan

Community Partner: Special Olympics Utah

Appreciation Night Match: September 14

Paige has long been involved in community efforts well before even becoming a professional. While at Butler, Paige began working with Tops Soccer, a recreational sports program for children and adults with intellectual, emotional, or physical disabilities that provides people with diverse abilities an opportunity to play soccer in a safe, fun, supportive and inclusive environment.

When Paige arrived in Utah she immediately wanted to get to work in making sure she had a positive impact in the community. She started looking at local organizations the club works with and saw the partnerships with Special Olympics and their unified Sports Program. Paige wanted to provide Special Olympics players the opportunity to represent the Utah Royals and get a full professional experience.

Paige organized and held a clinic/tryouts for Special Olympics Utah with the goal of having the first Utah Royals Special Olympics Unified Team. The Royals Unified team will represent the Utah Royals in Special Olympics competition. Players will sign contracts, receive their own jerseys, train where the pros train and get to play a match inside the stadium at America First Field. Paige wants to make sure every girl soccer player has the chance to represent the Utah Royals.
