Community Partner: Helping Hands

Since arriving in Portland, Sam has been deeply committed to the club, city and community, immediately connecting and volunteering with local youth clubs. During her rookie year, she began working with Helping Hands Reentry Outreach Centers, an organization that aims to provide a helping hand to a sustainable life through Resources, Recovery, and Reentry to the unhoused in Portland, Oregon. As part of Helping Hands Reentry Outreach Centers, Sam works with staff to provide data-driven, trauma-informed, person-centered care and transitional services for people experience homelessness in Portland. Additionally, Sam has worked with Petrichor Football Association which aims to foster an environment for young girls to play soccer in Cameroon. In partnership with the Thorns FC community, Sam has supported initiatives to further gender equity, racial equality and the protection of young athletes in sport.
