The final regular season week is upon us and it’s do or go home for three teams–the Portland Thorns, Bay FC, and Racing Louisville–with only two playoff spots up for grabs. For those who have already been eliminated from playoff chances, it’s an opportunity to end the season on a high note. And for most of the teams who have already clinched a playoff spot, it’s an opportunity to earn a better seeding.

Match: Utah Royals FC vs. NJ/NY Gotham FC - 9:30 PM EST
How to watch: NWSL+
In the first match of the weekend, Gotham FC takes on the Utah Royals in Utah. Utah has been in incredible form lately but Gotham’s dynamic offense is near unstoppable with nine players netting their last 13 regular season goals. Meanwhile, Utah enters this match on a strong four-game unbeaten streak, with Claudia Zornoza’s recent free-kick marking the Royals’ eighth goal from outside the box this season. Gotham’s defense will have to lock down their defense if they don’t want to deliver Utah’s fifth victory in a row.
Match: Portland Thorns vs. Angel City FC - 10:00 PM EST
How to watch: Prime Video
This week's Prime Video matchup features a high-stakes showdown as the Portland Thorns host Angel City FC on Friday night. For Portland, a win or draw secures their eighth straight postseason appearance, setting a league record for consecutive playoff berths. A loss, though, means relying on slip-ups from Bay FC and Racing Louisville to keep their playoff hopes alive. The Thorns will need to shake off memories of last season’s Decision Day heartbreak, when a 5-1 loss to Angel City in L.A. cost them the NWSL Shield. Keep an eye on young stars Alyssa Thompson and Olivia Moultrie, poised to make a serious impact. Thompson has racked up a record-breaking 2,123 minutes this season, tallying 12 goal contributions, while Moultrie continues her own historic run with 19 career goal contributions—all achieved before age 20.

Match: Orlando Pride vs. Seattle Reign - 5:00 PM EST
How to watch: ION
Seattle Reign and Orlando Pride meet in a season finale brimming with personal and club milestones. Seattle’s recent 2-1 win over Houston saw Nérilia Mondésir make history as the first Haitian player to score in the NWSL. While Seattle has played an incredibly tight season, with 21 of their 25 matches ending in draws or one-goal decisions, Orlando’s Barbra Banda is a goal-scoring phenom, matching Marta’s club record of 13 goals in a single season. She’ll surely make it difficult for Reign to end their 2024 season on a high note.
Match: North Carolina Courage vs. Washington Spirit - 7:30 PM EST
How to watch: ION
The Washington Spirit head to North Carolina to face the Courage in a high-stakes match with both individual and team records on the line. North Carolina enters this game with an impressive 21-match unbeaten streak at home, one shy of the league record, and has also won its last four matches against Washington, including three consecutive shutouts. Washington, however, has momentum, coming off two dominant wins by at least two goals each, tying an NWSL record for multiple-goal victories in a season. To add to the match’s importance, a win and a Gotham draw or loss the evening prior and Washington clinch the #2 seed.
Match: Houston Dash vs. Bay FC - 9:30 PM EST
How to watch: ION
Bay FC and Houston Dash face off Saturday evening in a huge match for the expansion team, who need a win or draw to make the playoffs in their first year in existence. Bay FC’s exciting attacking duo, Racheal Kundananji and Asisat Oshoala, has contributed to half of Bay's goals this season, with Kundananji assisting Abby Dahlkemper in the team’s recent 1-0 win over North Carolina. Bay FC’s ten wins this season are tied with San Diego for the highest ever for a new team, while Houston looks to finish strong, knowing the last-place team in each of the last three seasons has bounced back to make the playoffs the following year. In their last encounter, the Dash edged Bay FC 3-2 with a flurry of late goals, setting the stage for an exciting rematch with playoff implications.
Sunday, November 3
Match: Chicago Red Stars vs. Kansas City Current - 3:00 PM EST
How to watch: ESPN, ESPN+, ESPN Deportes
Kansas City Current and Chicago Red Stars face off Sunday afternoon, with each of their last five encounters featuring at least four goals, averaging a remarkable 5.4 goals per game. Kansas City’s offense is on a historic pace, with 54 goals this season, tying the league record for a single season. The Current also boasts impressive defensive form, allowing only two goals in their last seven matches after an earlier season struggle. Chicago, meanwhile, showed resilience in a 2-2 draw against Kansas City in June and aren’t a team anyone should discount. Individually, Temwa Chawinga headlines the matchup with league records in goals (20) and goal contributions (26), while Mallory Swanson has set a new standard for shooting accuracy, hitting the target on 61.5% of her shots. If their teammates can find either of them, it’s sure to be a high-scoring match.
Match: San Diego Wave FC vs. Racing Louisville FC - 5:30 PM EST
How to watch: ESPN, ESPN+
San Diego Wave and Racing Louisville end the final weekend of the regular season with another match with potential playoff implications. Racing Louisville comes into this game with playoff hopes alive, recently defeating Portland at home. If Bay FC and/or Portland lost earlier in the weekend, a win and a better goal differential could see them making the playoffs for the first time in club history. Taylor Flint remains a crucial aerial threat for Louisville, with most of her career goals coming from headers, second only to her teammate Abby Erceg. Meanwhile, San Diego has faced a rough patch, losing four straight matches and being held scoreless in consecutive home games for the first time. They have already been eliminated from the playoffs but will surely want to say goodbye to 2024 with a win.
