The U.S. women’s national team capped off their October schedule with a 3-0 victory over Argentina, with Naomi Girma’s unexpected brace leading the charge at Lynn Family Stadium in Louisville. The USWNT initially struggled to unlock Argentina’s low block but took control by the half-hour mark. Girma opened the scoring in the 37th minute with a close-range header—her first international goal—and her presence in the box led to an own goal just before halftime.

Picking up where she left off, Girma sealed her brace in the 49th minute, heading in an assist from Bay FC’s Alyssa Malonson.

Malonson along with Utah Royals goalkeeper Mandy Haught both earned their first caps with the national team this match, and were instrumental in the shutout.
This win extends the USWNT’s unbeaten streak under Hayes to 15 games, adding to their successful year, including Olympic gold in Paris. Set-piece goals continue to play a vital role under Hayes, with Girma and Tierna Davidson both finding double-goal success from set pieces during her tenure. The USWNT now looks to carry their momentum into challenging away friendlies against England and the Netherlands in late November and early December.
