Georgia native wins the award after recording three goals and two assists in two games played
NEW YORK (September 5, 2024) - The National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) announced today that NJ/NY Gotham FC forward Ella Stevens has been named the Player of the Month, presented by EA SPORTS, for the month of August by the NWSL Media Association and the NWSL’s on-air broadcast talent.
Stevens led Gotham FC to a 2-0-1 record this month throughout the regular season and NWSL x LIGA MX Femenil Summer Cup, scoring three goals and adding two assists in August.
The Georgia native’s impressive August campaign is highlighted by a goal and two assists in the club’s Summer Cup group stage victory over Guadalajara at the beginning of the month.
The former Duke University Blue Devil appeared in 131 minutes of action throughout the month as the standout striker clocked two shots, both on target, along with four successful dribbles past opponents in August.
The NWSL Player of the Month, presented by EA SPORTS, is presented by Ally, is selected by the NWSL Media Association, a collection of writers that cover the league on a consistent basis, and the NWSL’s on-air broadcast talent. Awards for the month of August are based off performances in both the regular season and NWSL x LIGA MX Femenil Summer Cup matches.
