Friday’s match was also Sinclair’s 200th appearance for the Thorns. Subbed off to a roaring ovation in the 83rd minute, she later addressed the fans, saying, “Some of the best moments of my life have been on this pitch. So, just a massive thank you.”
Sinclair’s career is decorated with accolades, from leading Canada to a historic Olympic gold medal in Tokyo to finishing her international career with a world-record 190 goals. A Thorns icon and a global soccer legend, Sinclair has played an indelible role in Portland’s three championships and will forever be etched in NWSL history.
With the playoff spot clinched, Portland eagerly awaits their opening-round opponent, to be determined after this weekend’s final regular-season games.
