Bernal’s presence was felt in the second half as the Houston Dash pushed to make a comeback The 26-year-old showcased the defensive leadership that made her a multi-time champion with Monterrey, helping Washington maintain its shape and composure under pressure and return home with all three points.
Her debut came just days after lifting the NWSL Challenge Cup, where she played a key role in the Spirit’s penalty shootout victory. Now, with league play underway, Bernal looks set to be a crucial piece of Washington’s defensive core this season.
