Seattle Reign FC claimed bragging rights in the 42nd edition of the Cascadia rivalry on Friday night, defeating Portland Thorns FC 1-0 at Lumen Field. In the first Rivalries presented by Ally match of the 2025 season, rookie Maddie Dahlien struck early, finishing off a pinpoint long ball from Lynn Biyendolo in the 4th minute for her first-ever professional goal.

The assist moved Biyendolo into a three-way tie for the most regular-season assists in NWSL history (31), joining Sofia Huerta and Jessica McDonald at the top of the all-time list.

Portland pushed for an equalizer, but the Reign defense stood tall behind a steady performance from goalkeeper Claudia Dickey, who made four saves to secure a clean sheet.
The first Reign Cascadia Rivalry win in Seattle brings them level with Portland in all competition series history: 16 wins apiece and 10 draws.
