Temwa Chawinga just keeps rewriting the record books.
On Saturday night, the 2024 NWSL MVP and Golden Boot winner scored in her eighth consecutive regular season game, tying her own league record and powering the Kansas City Current to a 3–0 win over the Utah Royals at CPKC Stadium. She's now scored in sixteen of her seventeen regular season NWSL matches, with the only game she failed to score in against the Orlando Pride on September 13, 2024.

Chawinga’s 22nd-minute strike—set up by Michelle Cooper—was her third goal of the season and extended her league-best scoring streak. She nearly added another minutes later, but VAR ruled her finish offside. Still, she made her mark again with an assist on Cooper’s goal in the 37th minute.

Despite her dominance, Chawinga is still chasing her first NWSL hat trick—and the first in Kansas City Current club history.
Debinha added the third in stoppage time for her 49th career goal, one away from joining the league’s 50-goal club. The win keeps Kansas City perfect at 3–0–0 and extends their unbeaten home streak to 13 matches.
