National Women’s Soccer League Concludes Third Annual NWSL Broadcast Bootcamp

The National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) conducted its third annual NWSL Broadcast Bootcamp this week at NEP South Florida in Fort Lauderdale. Over the course of two intensive days, current players and NWSL alumni gained valuable, hands-on experience in live sports broadcasting and production.

Established in 2023, the bootcamp builds on the league’s continued efforts to support players in gaining real-world experience across a variety of off-field roles within the sports industry. Since its inception, the experience has grown from two participants to 11 players in this year’s event. Notably, former NWSL player Darian Jenkins, who has since become a leading studio analyst for national broadcasts on CBS and Scripps Sports, participated in the inaugural bootcamp.

This year’s program offered participants the chance to step into the roles of play-by-play announcers and analysts, working alongside NWSL media partner broadcasters, including JP Dellacamera, Lori Lindsey, Maura Sheridan and Mike Watts, to deliver on-camera segments and live match analysis. In addition, participants explored career opportunities in live sports production, including roles such as match producer, director, replay operator, and graphics producer.

"We were thrilled to host another incredibly successful program in Ft. Lauderdale and appreciate the enthusiasm our player participants brought to this year’s event,” said NWSL Senior Director of Broadcast and Production Megan Buchan. "We’re proud to host programs like these that both empower players to explore their post-playing careers and equip them with the tools, knowledge, and connections they need to succeed beyond the pitch.”

As part of the immersive experience, all participants will receive demo reels showcasing their on-camera skills to share with media companies, including the NWSL’s current partners CBS Sports, ESPN, Prime Video and Scripps Sports.
