San Diego Wave’s French trio—Delphine Cascarino, Kenza Dali, and Perle Morroni—delivered a magnifique performance on Saturday afternoon, putting on a clinic in a 4-1 win over Racing Louisville FC, fittingly, in a city named after French monarch King Louis XVI\The result snapped San Diego’s three-game winless streak, and the club’s French internationals played a starring role in the victory.
Kenza Dali kicked things off with style, curling a gorgeous free kick into the top corner in the 17th minute for her first NWSL goal.

The 75-cap French midfielder joined San Diego this January from Aston Villa and before that, played for French clubs PSG and Lyon and has represented her country in Women’s World Cups, Euros, and most recently, the 2024 Paris Olympics.
After Louisville equalized just before halftime on a penalty, the Wave stormed back in the second half—this time through Delphine Cascarino, who set up 17-year-old Melanie Barcenas for the game-winner with a perfect square ball across the box, a league-leading third assist of the season for the six-time UEFA Champions League winner.

Then came her brace: first, a calm finish off a cutback from fellow Frenchwoman Perle Morroni, then a low-driven strike to seal the scoreline. A mid-2024 season signing with 64 caps for France and 223 matches for Lyon across all competitions, Cascarino has wasted no time showing why she was one of the most decorated transfers in NWSL history.
Morroni, a dynamic fullback with seven trophies from her time with Lyon and 11 caps with France, recorded her first assist in NWSL play and locked down the left flank with pace and precision in her third straight start.
