No. 3 overall draft pick awarded Rookie of the Month honors third-straight month
**NEW YORK (July 11, 2024) -**The National Women’s Soccer League announced today that Washington Spirit midfielder Croix Bethune has been named the NWSL Rookie of the Month, presented by Ally, for the month of June by the NWSL Media Association and the NWSL’s on-air broadcast talent.
Bethune is the first player in league history to win back-to-back-to-back Rookie of the Month honors.
The No. 3 overall selection in the 2024 NWSL Draft, presented by Ally, Bethune notched one goal and one assist throughout June, adding to her already impressive rookie ledger. The newcomer has recorded a league-leading nine assists so far this season, just one shy of tying Tobin Heath for the single-season record.
The three-time NWSL Rookie of the Month recipient leads all first-year pros with five goals and nine assists this year. Notably this month, Bethune recorded the game-tying goal in a June 15 contest against San Diego Wave FC that saw the Spirit extend its unbeaten streak to five matches.
The former USC Trojan and Georgia Bulldog appeared in 298 minutes of action while adding six tackles won and four successful dribbles past opponents throughout June.
