NOTES TO KNOW

TUNE IN

Viewers tuning in to the NWSL this season can catch more than 120 matches across CBS, ESPN, ION and Prime Video. The remaining matches will be available for free on NWSL+, the league’s first-ever domestic direct-to-consumer streaming platform.

Full details on how to watch all Week 15 matches can be found here.

THE UNDEFEATED BATTLE

The number one offense, the Kansas City Current, goes head-to-head with the number one defense, the Orlando Pride, this weekend at CPKC Stadium in the first match in NWSL history between two clubs on undefeated streaks of nine or more matches. Both the Pride and the Current have yet to lose a game this 2024 campaign taking the top two spots in the standings for the last eight weeks. On June 28, the Current broke the league undefeated streak set by the Seattle Reign in 2014 going 17 games without a loss since October 7, 2023. This will be the first ever meeting between head coaches Seb Hines and Vlatko Andonovski.

The Orlando Pride’s defense led by goalkeeper Anna Moorhouse has allowed 11 goals in 15 games, the fewest goals against in the league and the league leader for seven clean sheets while the Current have had 17 different goal scorers this season, setting a record in the league during Week 13.

Current forward Temwa Chawinga and Pride forward Barbra Banda hold the #1 and #2 spots on the Golden Boot standings each with 11 goals this regular season with Chawinga taking top spot due to assists. Chawinga has scored six goals and two assists in the previous four games, also adding two braces. The match airing on ION at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday features six players representing their countries in Paris for the Olympics.

ROOKIE BATTLE

Bay FC heads back to PayPal Park on a two-game win streak to host the Washington Spirit in the second match up between the two sides. On March 23, the Spirit rookies shined as midfielders Hal Hershfelt and Croix Bethune each notched a goal to defeat the 2024 expansion side 2-1. Bay FC rookie defender Savy King will look to spot the Spirit from finding the back of the net to secure the club’s third straight shutout. The Spirit have won five of their six last road games including the last three matches.

Washington Spirit Head Coach Jonatan Giráldez will make his coaching debut on the sidelines for Saturday’s matchup as Giráldez officially joined the Spirit on June 20 and has been working with Interim Head Coach Adrián González to transition into his new role taking the helm.

EAST VS WEST, PT 2

Angel City FC are set to host NJ/NY Gotham FC at BMO Stadium in the second meeting between the two sides with Gotham FC besting Angel City 2-1 on June 8. Goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger seeks to add her fifth clean sheet since joining Gotham FC on April 19, 2024. Gotham FC has kept clean sheets in all four of its road wins this season.

HOMECOMING IN CHICAGO

Houston Dash midfielder Shea Groom and forward Yuki Nagasato head back to the Windy City to face off against their former team as the Chicago Red Stars host the Houston Dash on Saturday. This will be the first meeting for the two sides this season with forward Mallory Swanson looking to extend her scoring streak after notching the game winning goal in back-to-back matches.
